Gaura Purnima is the celebration of the Appearance of Lord Caitanya in this world in 1486. Purnima means the full moon. Lord Caitanya is also known as Gauranga, or Gaura. Gaura means golden. In this golden form, Krishna appears in the mood of a devotee to spread the sublime method of achieving love of God by chanting His holy names: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. Thousands of devotees visit Mayapur at Gaura Purnima annually. |
